I think that this is crazy, I know that it's possible but I think that the idea of this is taking away what it is that makes us human. I know you can do anything just like hall says, " I eventually found an event that sounded too hilarious to pass up, " '80s Hair-band Night w? Live DJ @ Club EXPOSe!" " that is crazy. I do agree that computers and technology are helping mankind and progressing us through time. But if used in the way in which it takes over our life and becomes our first life instead of our second, i feel that this is destructive.

The most important day of my life, I'm really scared and as I walk down the street people glare with disgust at my presence. But I stand for something greater than some lowly person who has the need to feel superior. I walk up the street, I'm almost there, my heart is racing, I hear sirens everywhere. People yelling and people glaring, someone throws a rock at me and hits me in the head. I feel dizzy, I almost drop to the ground but I know that if I do everyone that is counting on me will surely fall too. I get up a group of national guardsmen rush to surround me, they escort me into the entrance. For the first time I finally see what everyone has been fighting for and what white folks are so protective of. I finally made it... I am officially a student of Little Rock Highschool.

This picture enhances the story by giving a visual to the hatred and dismay displayed in the story. It's perfect because it shows the angry white people and the guardsmen who are to keep order as segregation occurs.

Before responding to this journal read "Basic Design Principles" found in the course library on BlackBoard. Summarize the entire reading in two paragraphs. Be sure to answer the following two questions within your journal posting: What are the four basic principles of design that are highlighted in this excerpt? Explain each principle. How does color affect page design?

Basically you want the design to enable the viewer to easily navigate through the contents while enjoying the layout and information displayed on the page. The four basic principles are alignment, proximity, repetition, and contrast. The first concept alignment just basically states that you should have everything in one alignment as not to confuse the reader. Proximity is the relationship that develops when items relate to eachother. You just have to remember to put everything that relates closer together. Repetition just brings everything together. Contrast just creates a sort of pathway of where to look on a web page. Color choice represents your mood and clarity of a subject.

Compare and contrast the audiences of Trask's essay and Knier's essay. While doing this you will want to identify the audience of each piece and point out some specific elements of each text that let you know who the audiences are. Are the readers of these pieces specialists or not? What tone does each author take? Are these tones appropriate?

Next, compare and contrast how these two movie trailers have different audiences. Address the way the stories are presented, the types of characters that are created, the fonts that are used in the trailers, the tone, color, dress, etc.

You must include at least one quote from EACH PIECE of your reading for this blog or you will not receive full credit!

Knier's essay was directed more towards a general audience in the way that he wrote or his tone. He wrote with a more mellow and layed back tone that attempted to relate to the reader. He swears which gives a more layed back informal tone " It was like walking into a dream world since everything I really wanted (not cds or dvds and shit) ...".

Trask's essay was more formal and was directed towards specialists or government officials because her vocabulary is larger and she states cases and talks about different organzations in her argument that government officials would know about. " ... the state of Hawai'i created an Office of Hawaiian Affairs, or OHA, in 1980. Os for represenation of Hawaiian rights by Hawaiians".

The trailer for Bride and Prejudice targets a more diverse audience compared to that of Pride and Prejudice. Bride and Prejudice is more colorful and comical which is something that more people would watch compared to Pride and Prejudice which is more of a love story in which women are more attracted to see but men are less attracted to.

The e-portfolio displays our work different from the normative way of hard copying everything and turning it in. It does this by enabling us to insert pictures and other types of various text such as music into our portfolios and papers. By doing this it causes the reader to have a more intimate experience with the papers themselves. Also the way in which we design our presentation effects how the reader views our papers and alters their interpretation of such aspects as meaning and value. You want to present your work both clearly and subtlety in a way that only influences the readers subconscious. You create this by making everything visible and spaced out with "white space" in which the ease of reading the paper increases.
